The Production Team Leader reports to a Production Manager and is responsible for the efficient administration, organization, direction and safety of their assigned production employee team, to drive quality and meet production needs.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Oversee production employees to execute operational performance plan
Maintain safety, housekeeping, and schedule to meet production needs
Lead Production Systems Programs on the production floor
Promote employee training programs
Specific Responsibilities of the Job
Lead daily shift meeting, deliver safety education and lead stretching
Address operator needs and determine necessary maintenance, establishing priorities
Enter work orders and coordinate with maintenance team leaders for repairs
Act as a leader in the S^2QDC Meetings and work to promote the necessary changes for improvements with the hourly employees
Communicate the KPI performance metrics and results along with the Daily Production Reports with the hourly staff on a continuous basis as it ties to the Goal Sharing Program
Approve and issue Storeroom Requisitions to employees to monitor parts issued out of the Storeroom
Drive Production Systems on the production floor including 5S, TPM, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Projects
Promote with direct reports the Company Skill Pay Program and continued training for Qualification Profiles on operations
Introduce new work instructions, LOTO procedure and line practices through training
Review Adcole and CMM reports and determine if adjustments need to be made to meet specifications
Stop production processes to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, identify and place suspect product on quality hold and address noncompliant practices
Assist in onboarding process and establishing appropriate positions for new operators
Follow up with new operators and trainers for 30, 60, and 90 day evaluations
Manage team sick and vacation time, communicating between team leaders to ensure coverage
Approve employee payroll timecards through eTime, ensuring accuracy of pay
Prepare yearly performance evaluations for team members
Initiate, document, counsel, and issue disciplinary actions for production employees
Prepare end of shift reports as well as machine downtime reports
Education/Credentials/Certifications/Length of Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field with 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
OR
6-10 years of supervisory experience in a technical field in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Mechanical background and manufacturing experience
Knowledge of machining process and equipment operation
Excellent written and oral language ability
Strong interpersonal abilities
Ability to cope with changes
Excellent reasoning and problem solving ability
Excellent organizational skills
Strong leadership abilities
Ability to read and interpret measurements and conversions
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
