We are looking for a full-time Windows Systems Administrator 3 for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhancing performance of Garmin’s Windows server computing systems. Other essential functions include:


  • Perform and evaluate costs and vendor comparisons for small through large scale projects

  • Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations

  • Provides 24x7 on-call support

  • Develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging server, storage, email, file, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, DFS and other Windows server based technologies

  • Communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes

  • Adhere to SOX, PCI, NIST 800.x and ISO 27001 and other regulatory requirements as dictated

  • Understand and avoid capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems

  • Ensure that all security requirements are met or exceeded

  • Contribute to defining team roadmap and priorities

  • Research new technologies and proposes cost effective solutions

  • Lead major incident troubleshooting involving multiple disciplines

  • Provide innovation within area of expertise

  • Facilitate and engages in team discussions and meetings

  • Recognized as an expert in assigned discipline at Garmin and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiatives

  • Serve as a leader of change

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience OR a Master of Science Degree in one of the fields noted above AND a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Other requirements include:



  • Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge




  • Ability to author and implement advanced scripting to automate technical tasks.




  • Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively




  • Knowledge of the Windows Server Operating System, and best practices for securing and hardening Windows servers




  • Ability to manage systems in Azure




  • Knowledgeable in Identity and Access management products and practices




  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills




  • Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization



Experience in one or more of the below is preferred!



  • Administrating Citrix 7.15 LTSR or later 




  • Familiar with enterprise password storage/retrieval systems




  • Administrating SCCM 1909 or later




  • Administrating Exchange 2016 (On Prem or Online) or later 




  • Administrating SolarWinds or other Enterprise monitoring systems




  • Administrating Microsoft Teams




  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals




  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate




  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate




  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Azure Administrator Associate




  • MCSE




  • Superior Academics




  • Working in an Agile team environment
