Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time Operator for our Wright City, MO facility. The starting wage is $17.50/hr with a second shift additional premium of $1.50/hr. This position is responsible for the operation of the heat treatment furnace equipment in producing glass for architectural glazing products which meets project specifications. The Operator will lead Material Handlers in streamlining and expediting production by moving materials, primarily glass, from one position/location to another safely and efficiently. Some assembly and quality control duties are also necessary. This position requires the flexibility to work in different functions throughout the plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Follow current training instructions to safely produce quality product and maintain equipment.

  • Verify process output is within specified quality limits.

  • Executes, interprets, records, and properly responds to inspection and test results.

  • Responsible for isolating and/or rejecting materials out of specification.

  • Assists the Department Lead in shift preparation, directing personnel, and shut-down/hand-off at end of shift.

  • Ensure all process equipment is maintained to accepted standards.

  • Move materials (primarily glass) using vacuum lift assist equipment, manually lifting, and moving mobile carts from one position/location to another to facilitate the production process.

  • The ability to safely perform tasks, adhere to all safety policies and procedures, and correct or report hazards in the workplace. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance activities on equipment, such as cleaning and inspecting. Keep work areas clean and organized.

  • Understand and comply with all written policies, work rules, and work instructions. Execute verbal directions as instructed. Respect co-workers to maintain a civil and safe work environment.

Requirements


  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Experience operating equipment in a manufacturing setting, or similar responsibilities

  • Stable personality to confidently direct co-workers with respect utilizing good communication and organization skills

  • Strong interpretation and decision-making skills

  • Good time-management skills; able to think ahead while completing the tasks at hand

  • Good math and computer interface skills, along with the ability to read and use a tape measure

  • Stable work history with previous manufacturing/fabrication experience and/or mechanical aptitude preferred

  • Available to work a 5-day work week with occasional work on Saturdays 

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, carry, walk, and reach frequently

  • Ability to stand and walk on a concrete floor; wearing steel-toed shoes with metatarsal guards and other safety equipment for eight to ten hours per day

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment without temperature or humidity control

 Preferences


  • Demonstrated leadership ability or potential

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Experience in process improvement
