The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the Technical Sales Representative position will work with aerospace OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and the respective Tier Suppliers to understand future design trends with Nextel Fiber and Boron Nitride products. The goal will be to gain end use material approvals for 3M Advanced Materials Division products used primarily in aerospace applications and Industrial market segments.  The primary focus areas will be CMC development programs and other composite materials used in the aerospace Industry.

As a(n) Executive Technical Sales Representative, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Identifying the best 3M Advanced Material solution for an application and provide data and information to support product approvals at the customer level

  • Applying an understanding of 3M’s brand and innovation story, individual value propositions, and knowledge of applications to maximize revenue for AdMD

  • Sharing key learnings on new applications with the global 3M team to foster replication

  • Collaborating with fellow technical sales representatives for accounts, such as compounders and mixers, where pull through selling is required

Company Vehicle

This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position (if applicable)

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years experience as a Sales Representative or Application/Product Development Engineer in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Current, Valid Driver’s license is required, as you will be issued a company vehicle for this position (if applicable)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Three (3) years of technical sales experience in any or all of the following industries: Aerospace, Automotive and Oil and Gas.

  • Experience with Ceramic Fibers and Technical Ceramics applications.\

  • Proficient in Salesforce.com

  • Ability to engage and sell to all decision makers, including executives, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing operations

  • Strong people skills and ability to work with cross-functional team

Travel: May include up to 40% overnight domestic travel
