Job Description Summary

California Times is looking for an experienced production coordinator to work on L.A. Times Studios productions. In this role you will help to keep day to day production running smoothly, within tight time constraints and in budget. This is a unique opportunity to join an expanding video news production team at an iconic news brand.

Job Description

Responsibilities:


  • Works with Production Manager and EIC to coordinate the various equipment and personnel needed for each production

  • Organizes and sets up off-site shoots

  • Keeps track of and books essential crew to replace freelancers when they are not available

  • Keeps track of crew availability

  • Helps to ensure stage crew does not incur overtime or penalties by managing time

  • Maintains production schedules

  • Creates and distributes call sheets to crew and talent including L.A. Times reporters

  • Ensures interviewees are where they need to be on time to avoid costly crew overtime

  • Liaises between Executive Producer, Line Producer, AP and Segment Producers

  • In today's environment, also sets up Zoom lines and all Zoom tech checks

  • Collects timecards, enters into system and checks reports for accuracy once received.

 

Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma

  • Basic knowledge of television production

  • 2 years of production experience

  • Knowledge of production crew responsibilities and specific skills needed for each shoot.

  • Knowledge of equipment needed to get specific shots quickly while making sure quality does not suffer.

  • Must be highly organized and able to make quick decisions.

  • Some payroll experience

  • Must be familiar with Farmers wife production software

  • Google sheets proficiency

  • Excel spreadsheet proficiency

Working Environment / Physical Requirements:


  • 75% of day is working at a desk

  • 25% on set standing / moving

  • Working inside and outside depending on shoot schedule
