What you will do
Are you someone who enjoys finding cost saving techniques that impacts the company’s bottom line? Are you someone well versed or interested in Value Analysis and Value Engineering methodology? Are you a person that wants to understand Continuous Improvement and how YF plants works? We are looking for a Cost Modelling & VA/VE Engineers.
VAVE is critical engineering tool in YFAI future from leadership to launches to the assembly line. As part of Engineering Team, you will interface regularly with engineering, launch, and production team. You responsible to defining the value analysis in product and process cost in current production and new product development by generating and implementing cost ideas through VAVE techniques.
How you find and help drive savings through the organization:
Lead VAVE plant VACI workshops to help generate current production product cost improvement ideas utilizing “go and see” technics. Leading a team of manufacturing, quality, engineering and program management to define, determine and assign ownership to VAVE project. Captures and tracks current production VAVE savings and lead major VAVE projects in CI trac.
Explore Value Engineering, cost modelling and variance analysis to identify cost opportunities. Suggest best cost design and ‘Make Vs Buy’ Analysis. Provide best cost solutions to SMTEs, Phase 1, launch SDTs, and production teams for read across and cost continuous improvement. Also providing best cost opportunities to the procurement team for effective cost negotiations.
Enhance the Customer Business Unit’s VAVE process to help establish VA opportunity with the OEM customer.
Aiding and interact with the Competitive Benchmarking and Teardown to help drive the Best-Of-Best Analysis to identify best cost product. Initial scoping of cost projects and analysis.
Interact with Cross-Functional Teams to identify cost drivers. Develop material cost tables based on historical information using parametric estimating methods and statistical analysis techniques
Applies cost estimating techniques and processes to create, improve and maintain accurate and precise cost models with Excel spreadsheets and or other.
Be a catalyst in all aspects of cost optimization: VA, CI, CO, Supplier development, and design for cost. Able to accept, drive and deliver cost savings change.
An outgoing engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
3-5 years of experience in cost driven design, operations or supply chain.
Proficient in reading BOM/cost structure analysis. Knowledge of manufacturing processes like molding, welding, Takt time and resins etc. Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of product costing and or design for cost.
Knowledge of Value engineering techniques (VAVE) and or Continuous Improvement (CI) is a plus.
