TITLE: Vice President / System – Global Reinsurance

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology (Global Re)

LOCATION: Stamford, CT

 

KEY OBJECTIVES

Develops and maintains Global Re IT frameworks, standards and guidelines that determine what, how and where information will be collected, stored, processed, transmitted, presented, and used. Designs and develops IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions for the business. Performs technical planning, architecture design, systems review, and application development. Devises specifications for new applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of systems \ proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. 

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   


  • Review all current Global Re systems, technologies, and architecture and recommend options to simply and correct legacy issues.

  • Responsible for taking development maintenance ownership of the Global Re treaty system.

  • Responsible for updating the core technology of the Global Re treaty system to allow for more flexibility in adding new Global Re regions.

  • Responsible for establishing and implementing an approach for e-business and straight through processing using ACORD with the Global Re treaty system.

  • Review and recommend a solution to combine the new Global Re treaty system core technology and the data warehouse to reduce data transmission points.

 

SCOPE

The VP/Systems will partner closely with the Global Re CIO and key stakeholders to define and implement technical solutions that support the Global Re’s ongoing transformation from a complicated legacy centric model to a simplified and modern IT environment.

 

This position reports directly to the CIO of Chubb Global Re.  Key relationships are with the business users and the Global Re IT team.

 

REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent job experience.

  • Strong understanding of insurance and/or reinsurance systems.

  • Strong understanding of leading technologies.

  • Strong experience with designing and developing enterprise application solutions.

  • Strong experience with application performance tuning.

  • 15+ years’ experience in the Information Technology functions of Financial Institutions and / or with technology companies.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical value and benefits to technology resources.

  • Thorough understanding of IT trends with an ability to identify resultant issues and implications.

  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Experience with GENIUS Web Services, .NET, C#, SQL Server, JavaScript, and ACORD, NoSQL (MongoDB, CouchBase, etc.), BizTalk, XML/XSLT, JSON, HTML5, WCF, REST, and MVC

  • Experience with straight through processing (STP), e-business, and working with ACORD data formats

  • Experience as a lead systems architect designing enterprise solutions to handle global operations.

  • Experience with insurance and/or reinsurance operations.

  • Experience designing and developing policy and/or treaty systems.
