Job Description:

Working for OU Payroll affords the opportunity to interact with all departments across campus. Payroll Technicians assist with payroll processing, special deductions, leave and time entry, problem solving and varied pay scenarios. Work is deadline driven and accuracy is critical. An ability to learn, retain and apply personnel policies, payroll administration and procedures is required for problem solving. Payroll Technicians process and verify large quantities of data to maintain accurate personnel records and payroll. The technicians perform diverse tasks requiring excellent organizational skills and work with limited supervision. Effects of errors are serious and may cause problems for departments and university employees. Payroll Techs gain and apply a thorough knowledge of PeopleSoft.

Required Education: GED/High School Grad or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:


  • 0-24 Payroll experience.

Skills:


  • Knowledge of standard bookkeeping and accounting procedures

  • Advanced excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets

  • Basic math skills

  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff

  • General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, and mail

  • Must be proficient in computing complex payroll deductions and adjustments, including child support, tax levies and garnishments

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively.

Departmental Preferences:


  • PeopleSoft experience preferred

  • FPC or CPP preferred

  • Proficient computing complex payroll tax calculations

Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
