Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Cardiovascular Research Center is seeking an Assistant Scientist to assist in developing projects in the field of cardiac cell and molecular biology. The projects particularly focus on studying stem cells and their products including paracrine factors and exosomes in repairing heart after injury. The successful candidates should have a strong background in cell biology and should have experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques including manipulation of DNA, RNA and protein expression.
Responsibilities include: performing routine technical and non-technical laboratory/research related tasks; providing technical assistance by performing experiments and then analyzing the data; independently handling experiments; assisting with the handling and care of lab animals; assisting in obtaining and recording research data; maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment; and assisting with feeding laboratory animals, cleaning cages and maintaining feeding logs. In addition, the Associate Scientist maintains inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies and performs routine staining and fixing of specimens, prepare culture media following explicit instructions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 year(s) of laboratory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to work with laboratory animals.
*Ability to use the Microsoft office programs.
*Demonstrated ability to complete experiments in a timely manner.
*Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
*Experience operating all standard laboratory equipment.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Molecular biology, Physiology or Biomedicine
