Spec Engineering is seeking an impact player and difference maker to join our team as a Process Engineer. This self-driven engineer should be able to manage several project tasks simultaneously and be agile in a fast-paced environment with immaculate detail.

Spec Engineering is a privately held, fast growing, and stable full-service process engineering firm/turn-key system integrator with our main office located in Plainfield Il, and a second location in Chicago. We provide the latest in technology as a system integrator in the food & beverage, general manufacturing, and chemical industries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and improve systems, products, components, and processes for functionality, cost efficiency, and reliability.

  • Develops initial design for customer processes and communicates basis with design team.

  • Specifies, sizes, and aspects of major equipment for inclusion in overall process.

  • Works closely with designers, drafters, and engineering to ensure coordination of design effort is maintained.

  • Reviews 2D drawing and 3D modelling designs produced by engineering team for accuracy and adherence to specifications.

  • Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal.

  • Provide timely technical assistance and solutions to the team.

  • Participate in project meetings and conference calls with vendors and customers as required.

  • Travels on-site for initial site assessment and project status meetings.

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Support and contribute to engineering department effectiveness and efficiency.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar field.

  • 5-10 years’ industry experience.

  • Experience in an OEM environment is preferred.
