Purchasing Supervisor

Purpose

Responsible for directing the activities of employees to ensure compliance to Corporate, Plant, Quality Audits, and purchasing processes and procedures. Manages buyers and administrative assistants that support 4 offsite plants from a centralized location.

Responsibilities


  • Develops action plans and provides guidance to employees to meet their plant's MRP execution signals, inventory turns, as well as reduction of excess and obsolete inventory goals.

  • Tracks and reviews MRP signal execution to manage buyer workload to support customer demand and production schedules. Reviews and approves UPPV, PO spend based on limits of approval, works with suppliers, and escalates as needed to support production plans. Takes appropriate action to ensure execution levels meet division targets.

  • Manages the activities of the buyers and administrative assistants and is responsible for staffing decisions, training and development,and performance management of the staff. Directs the activities of the purchasing staff to accomplish company objectives.

  • Supervises work performance and provides employees with timely feedback and coaching. Clearly communicates performance and conduct expectations. Formally assesses performance. Assists employees in developing skills and correcting performance issues.

  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business requirements. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques determine appropriate action. Acts as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and resolve materials issues.

Qualifications


  • Candidate must have 2-4 years purchasing management experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or Business preferred; certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or APICS CPIM certification a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle, SAP, QAD, MS-8 or similar systems.

  • Must have excellent Excel skills.

  • Demonstrates planning, organizational and negotiation skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Direct experience in supervising professional and clerical associates is necessary. Ability to train employees, communicate production schedules and business objectives.

  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work with people at all levels within and outside Sanmina in a professional manner.
