The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager will be a highly motivated and skilled innovator and team leader. This highly visible position will serve as a key business partner to the various divisions and executives across the Enterprise. Core responsibilities and expectations for this position include developing staff, improving processes, and driving financial transparency. The FP&A Manager will provide insight into business drivers and key metrics, drive strategic planning and analysis, budgeting and reporting, and deliver on financial objectives.

How you will make an impact:


  • Directs, coordinates and oversees the annual corporate budget process including quarterly reforecasts and budget variance reporting.

  • Coordinates, manages and directs the administrative cost allocation system (CAS) and rating process (CARS).

  • Coordinates, manages, directs and reviews the analyses produced by FP&A Analysts including cost/benefit, lease versus buy and other financial analyses.

  • Provides Senior Management and divisions with analyses requiring higher expertise, confidentiality or sensitive handling.

  • Manages and develops FP&A staff to achieve department objectives including determining staffing needs, setting goals, interviewing, selecting, coaching, and evaluating the performance of all direct reports. Ensures staff is trained and works with department and/or enterprise trainer to develop written training materials and procedures. Promotes a constructive work environment to accomplish work and meet customer demands.

  • Develops, monitors, and reconciles an annual operating plan and budget.

  • Evaluates work/project requests to determine feasibility (cost/benefits analyses) and appropriate department resourcing.

  • Ensures work and projects are completed within schedules and budgets.

  • Establishes departmental goals and objectives that support the corporate mission and goals and ensure individual performance goals support departmental goals. Measures and monitors the status of goal achievement.

  • Works with management to resolve problems and meet financial objectives and requirements.

What we look for:

  • 8+ years of related work experience, 1+ year of supervisory/management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and enterprise wide accounting structure.

  • Strong organizational/time management skills and multi-tasking abilities.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to spot trends, analyze data and translate into fact- based recommendations.

  • Excellent mathematical skills, detail orientation and problem-solving capabilities. Knowledge and application of English grammar including composition, editing and proofreading skills.

  • PC literacy required; Excellent MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Experience with ERP and Planning applications, such as Oracle/Hyperion, SAP, IBM/Cognos required (Oracle/Hyperion preferred)

  • Knowledge of health care industry issues is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Delta Dental products, policies, claims, eligibility and underwriting guidelines.
