Job Summary:

Summary:

Collects and processes patient specimens for testing in adherence with laboratory protocols.

Performs patient registrations to ensure accurate patient identification for testing and billing purposes.

Position Responsibilities:

* Performs pre-analytical processes including registration, ordering, patient identification, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.

* Performs clerical functions including but not limited to telephone communication, report generation, and faxing.

* Provides outstanding customer service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

Preferred: Minimum of 1 year office clerical/secretarial experience in a medical environment; previous customer service experience, ability to follow standard operating procedures.

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

External or internal phlebotomy training course.

Valid Driver's License required where off-site (non-hospital) specimen collections are a function of the position.
