Job Requirements


  • Responsibilities include design, development, and implementation of material handling and packaging systems for various customers. Candidates must possess the skills to manage and implement industrial projects from design through commissioning using current technology.

  • The team members must possess the appropriate training or experience with material handling systems and must be able to quickly understand complex technical solutions. They must have excellent knowledge of material flow, packaging systems, AGVs, ASRS, pallet conveyor, tote conveyor, high speed sortation systems, and other automatic material handling equipment. Experience with throughput calculations and design to meet customer production needs is also required. The candidate must have experience with plant level material handling design and integration.

  • Applicable candidates should have experience in standard project management practices, including project scope, budget, goals, technical and functional requirements. Scope and budget balance with customer needs and expectations from design through commissioning and long-term support. Candidates should be able to complete projects without help from others but may also be responsible for managing multiple projects, vendors, customer relationships and larger teams.

  • Applicable candidates should have an understanding of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic designs.

  • Applicable candidates should have experience with bar code applications. Vision and RFID systems are a plus.

  • 3+ years of experience in automated material handling and packaging.

  • Experience in Beverage, Food, or Pharmaceutical industries is preferred.

  • The position will include customer and vendor interaction at a functional and technical level, candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Essential Function


  • Participate in estimating and proposal phase of major projects including research and analysis based on customer proposals, specifications or other information to assist in pre-project planning.

  • Design material handling and packaging systems based on partner or customer provided descriptions, joint-design sessions with partners or customers, analysis of existing operations or other means to develop functional design.

  • Manage material handling equipment vendors during commissioning to successfully provide a complete solution to the customer.

  • Work with other team members, partners or customers as needed to oversee or share design and development responsibilities to deliver successful projects, often working on multiple projects at one time.

  • Develop solutions to support testing and commissioning activities as required by customers and partners.

  • Provide on-site commissioning support and customer training as required, including the supervision of other team members and partners.

  • Responsible for the communication, implementation\\ and enforcement of Gray’s safety program on site.
