Job Summary: Mid-level electrical engineer able to complete project design tasks independently. Possesses strong communication and organizational skills required to succeed in multi-discipline collaborative team environment. Customer-focused with the ability to build strong relationships with client engineering and management teams. Experience in design of food and beverage manufacturing facilities including knowledge and experience of hygienic design principles and coordination of electrical service to process equipment loads highly desired.
Duties and Functions:
Engineering Design
Prepare or direct development of design documentation including drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, etc.
Apply standard engineering design principles and methodologies as well as applicable codes in the preparation of construction documents.
Prepare or direct development of specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents.
Maintain complete and orderly project files and documentation.
Participate in the QC process by ensuring drawings are reviewed by a senior engineer; make revisions and changes as recommended.
Perform design reviews as part of the QC process.
Ensure that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes and construction standards.
Project Management
Work within project budget and timeline to ensure a timely, cost effective design delivery.
Participate or lead “Kick Off” meetings to gain an understanding of the scope of work and project goals.
Perform project management responsibilities for limited scope projects.
Communicate directly with client on projects managed.
Provide routine updates to the supervision on issues and concerns as they arise.
Mentoring and Training
Provide mentoring, training, and oversight to designers.
Participate in the firm’s various internal training programs.
Participate in continual process improvement through initiative teams, task committees, training sessions and other special efforts.
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering discipline or significant experience in food and beverage manufacturing design and operation.
4 to 10 years related experience
Professional designation (PE or EIT) desired
Strong aptitude in engineering design
Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM360, Microsoft Office)
Project-oriented and customer-oriented
Well developed, detail-oriented, organizational skills
Ability to work with junior and experienced engineers to set and achieve goals based on the client’s priorities and project objectives.
Support internal and external customers
Ability to work as part of a design team as well as independently.
