Spec Engineering is seeking an impact player and difference maker to join our team as a Field Operations Technician who spends each day looking through the eyes of our customers, because, at the end of the day, you never settle for anything less than your best.

Spec Engineering is a privately held, fast growing, and stable full-service process engineering firm/turn-key system integrator with our main office located in Plainfield Il, and a second location in Chicago. We provide the latest in technology as a system integrator in the food & beverage, general manufacturing, and chemical industries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install/oversee the installation of equipment and piping at customer sites.


• TIG and MIG welding of carbon and stainless steel. Sanitary tube welding experience is a plus.


• Able to work and make critical decisions on your own based off drawings and scope of work while in the field.


• Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and vendors of varying backgrounds and experience.


• Adhere to and enforce both company and customer polices while at customer locations. This includes Safety and Housekeeping.


• Ability and willingness to travel out of town, up to 10 days at a time, for projects.


• Perform tasks in the shop when not in the field under the direction of the Manufacturing Lead.

Attention to Detail – Recognize mistakes and take action to correct them. Strong observational skills and asking questions to ensure all levels of detail are considered. Help develop product quality control procedures.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• 7-10 years in shop fabrication or piping systems.


• Experience in an OEM environment is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required. Forklift certified preferred
