Overview

VHB's growing South Burlington, VT office is seeking a Landscape Designer/Architect to join our Land Planning and Design practice. The 70-person South Burlington office handles a wide range of interesting, diverse and many of the most significant public and private projects in the Northern New England region. The projects range from: major ski resort development, commercial/real estate, institutional and transportation to downtown revitalization, community planning and renewable energy permitting.

Located on Lake Champlain and home to the University of Vermont and other colleges, Burlington offers outstanding social and cultural activities. Renowned outdoor recreational opportunities, both winter and summer are readily accessible for the interested professional.

About the Position

Landscape Architect | South Burlington, VT

Responsibilities

• Work with multi-disciplinary project teams, assist in developing site design from concept through construction.


• Prepare graphics, by hand and primarily by computer, for concept plans and diagrams, cross sections, public presentation materials and master planning documents


• Assist in producing design development and construction documents: Develop layout, grading, and planting plans, construction details and specifications


• Assist in preparing estimates of probable construction costs


• Conduct construction site visits and plant tagging

Skills & Abilities

• Proficiency in working with AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Photoshop, InDesign, and PowerPoint/Microsoft Office Suite


• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills


• Strong graphic skills and ability to organize and present ideas graphically


• Ability to handle assignments from multiple project managers

Qualifications

• BS in Landscape Architecture


• 3+ years of directly-related professional landscape architecture experience from design through construction


• Familiarity with sustainable design practices desired
