Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

dormakaba is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Operations team in Indianapolis, IN! This position will be responsible for troubleshooting a wide varity of manual and automatic equipment. The ideal candidate will exercise technical independence when determining work methods and procedures necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.

PRIMARY DUTIES:


  • Inspects, tests, adjusts, maintains, and repairs all physical plant mechanical machinery

  • Completes necessary departmental documentation to support a preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working conditions. Performs machine maintenance according to this program

  • Interfaces with other departments to ensure timely completion of repairs and routine maintenance to minimize downtime and increase productivity

  • Maintains join responsibility for the equipment, safety, and overall operation of the department.

  • Provides recommendations to supervisor equipment, mechanical, and procedural changes to improve production efficiency and to achieve cost reduction

  • Develops monthly reports for supervisor conveying machine repair status and projected maintenance

  • Maintains machine logs which track the run-time of each machine where applicable

  • Ensures that machine parts necessary to perform duties are on hand by periodically checking crib inventory stock levels, where applicable

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:


  • Requires some knowledge in the use of power tools including lathes, grinders, and mills

  • Ability to detect defects in equipment used in the trades involved

  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, machine prints, electrical prints, pencil sketches and diagrams, pneumatic schematics, and hydraulic schematics

  • Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate work and initiate improvements in operation

  • Ability to respond in emergency situations involving machine operations and clearly evaluate problems under pressure

  • Good communication skills needed to relate to various internal customers and vendors

  • Skill in the care and use of the tools and equipment used in the trades involved

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in the machine maintenance trade

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved

  • Skills or experience with personal computers

  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently

REQUIREMENTS:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associates degree in related technical field preferred

  • Solid math skills - normally associated with the completion of high school math sequence

  • 2-5 years of experience in machine maintenance work or in related trade preferred
