POSITION SUMMARY:

A person in this position provides technical support for belt applications to customers and our sales team. This position is also involved in developing new products and improving existing ones.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: : <List the essential functions that are core to this position and represent at least 5% of the incumbent's time>.Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.

1	50%	Customer Service: *Provides technical support to customers, sales, and manufacturing personnel on existing andnew applications.
2	5%	Training: * customer staff on Gates belting products and applications * end-users on how to splice, weld belts and other belt fabrication methods
3	20%	Design and development of new products and associated processes. Includes, creation of drawings, specifications, bill of materials and routings
4	10%	Contribution to marketing materials
5	5%	Product improvement
6	5%	Development and use of testing equipment and procedures
7	5%	On-site belting installations at customer sites

ABOUT YOU: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• AS in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline is the minimum requirement.


• 3-5 years' experience in engineering field with emphasis on machine design

• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

• Sound understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and machine shop practices.


• Good working knowledge of computer-aided-design (CAD) software; SolidWorks knowledge is preferred.


• Knowledge of components in motion control and industrial automation systems.


• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Good written and verbal communication. Must be able to effectively communicate application/product requirements and interact with customers, sales, design, and manufacturing teams.


• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Knowledge and ability to use all MS Office Products

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Travel to and from customer sites for education purposes and product advice, installation, and training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
