Summary:

This role will be responsible for shaping, developing and driving the strategy and executional plans across Ferring's therapeutic areas for Real World Evidence (RWE) & Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR). In addition, they will lead the development of HEOR strategies that demonstrate value to strengthen commercialization activities for inline and launch products (including clinical development, marketing, pricing and reimbursement) while applying in-depth clinical knowledge of disease state and healthcare payer organizations.

Responsibilities:

Establish the strategic and tactical direction of Ferring's RWE/HEOR Department:


  • Develop and implement economic models and instruments to promote the understanding and appropriate use for Ferring products, as well as the economic implications based on clinical performance and budget impact using real world datasets and health records.

  • Promote and ensure compliance of evidence-based medicine data generation and strategy to support sound principles for economic and patient reported outcomes assessments and valueproposition.

  • Effectively and efficiently manage multiple RWE/HEOR related projects and associated resources, including cost center budget, vendors, consultants and other expenses related to RWE/HEOR.

  • Create policies, procedures and guidelines related to functional roles, pursuing efficiencies without compromising quality, dependability or accuracy; ensure compliance to departmental, organizational, and global standards and SOPs.

Continuously expand RWE/HEOR by identifying and implementing outcomes-based research across Therapeutic Areas:


  • Develop RWE/HEOR publications plan and materials supporting product use and reimbursement, including presentations, manuscripts, etc.

  • Partner with Commercial and Medical leadership and cross-functional colleagues to support product value proposition to optimize access, reimbursement and uptake.

  • Implement outcomes research projects including registry summaries, database analysis, chart pulls, systematic literature reviews, etc.

  • Manage the integration of economic and quality of life parameters into Ferring sponsored clinical study endpoints to support the market; oversee acquisition of 3rd party databases in-house and manage subsequent analyses.

  • Deliver US economic models and integrated value dossiers to demonstrate the additional therapeutic value of Ferring's products.

  • Identify, select and manage external vendors, as needed to implement and deliver on Value Based Outcomes initiatives.

Serve as Ferring's key advisor and subject matter expert for RWE/HEOR data:


  • Work closely with a wide variety of functions such as Market Access, Medical Affairs, Finance, Legal and Compliance to ensure the needs of HEOR.

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with external HEOR experts/Thought Leaders (TLs) to ensure up to date awareness and education in health economics and quality of life research.

  • Break down barriers to accelerate the delivery and dissemination of information.

  • Act as a key cross-functional scientific communicator and collaborator to develop outcomes strategies, assessment, messaging and quality improvement plans.

Requirements:


  • Advanced degree in health economics, pharmaceutical sciences or related discipline required (MD, PharmD, or PhD).

  • 10+ years in academia, practice and/or industry, in position-relevant roles of increasing responsibility with a track record of documented successes.

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with the dynamics of the US health care systems/payers.

  • Experience with development of quality-improvement programs, scientific principles of health outcomes and economics research, comparative effectiveness research, evidence-based health management programs.

  • Solid knowledge and experience with HEOR data sources and analytical methods.

  • In-depth knowledge of PROs, claims database analysis methodologies, and real world evidence generation relevant to payers and healthcare systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others.

  • Timely and high-quality deliverables for all assigned responsibilities and projects.

  • Proven leadership in health economics and outcomes research.

  • Effectively communicating clinical, reimbursement value and outcomes assessments to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Exceptional methodological, quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Manages successfully across teams to ensure all cross-functional deliverables.

  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment of the pharmaceutical industry.
