Job Description:

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Electrician in Carrollton, KY.

Job Summary:

The Electrician is responsible for maintenance of plant electrical equipment through Planned Maintenance (PMs) and breakdowns. Incumbent must apply principles of electricity to analyze and correct electrical problems, and to install, repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans the details and working procedures by determining replacement needs or new materials are required, and develops a logical approach to correct the problem

  • Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, and service or replace electrical and electronic devices

  • Receives wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from supervisor covering emergency and scheduled repairs, installation, and electrical PM inspections work to be performed

  • Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operations of electrical equipment

  • Services electrical and electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components on circuits, power packs, motors, transformers, switches, and the fabrication and installation of conduit

  • Fabricates parts if not commercially available, using machines and hand tools common to the trade

  • Determines needs, analyzes, and make necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls to electrical equipment

  • Advises and cautions operators, tradesmen and supervisors about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved

  • Oversees electrical apprentices - must be able to give directions and assistance when needed

  • May be required to work with other trades or on projects not related to his/her trade when requested to by their supervisor

  • Works with plant engineering and project engineers on evaluating, assisting, checking, and installation of electrical equipment

  • Wears needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by applicable OSHA and Dow regulations. Keep his/her area and equipment clean at all times. Employee must work in a safe manner and follow all pertinent Dow Safety Standards Trades people are required to continually upgrade their skills through training both on and off site and through local colleges

  • May be required to travel to other Dow Sites to assist in maintenance activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to work the occasional off-hour and weekend shifts to support plant outages and unplanned events.

  • Able to work overtime.

  • Current, valid US driver's license.

  • Staff on-call responsibility is a requirement of this role.

  • Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the drug-free & smoke free workplace policy

  • Punctual and reliable

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Climb ladders up to 24 ft.

  • Perform tasks off a scissor lift /aerial lift

  • Ability to lift and work with objects (up to and including) 50 lbs.

  • Ability to read, understand work processes, drawings and safety procedures,

  • Able to work in awkward positions

  • Able to work in inclement weather

  • Able to hear and see alarms and visually inspect equipment

  • Ability to determine full range of colors in work areas, drawings and mapping.

  • Ability to move about commercial properties and construction sites, through tight passageways and corridors. On feet throughout start-up process.

  • Be able to work from heights and within confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCCER journeyman certified in Electrical craft (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference).

  • Experience with SAP ECC (enterprise computer system).


  • High School diploma or equivalent is required AND one of the following:

  • 2 year Associates degree or a certificate from a trade-school in an electrical discipline/journeyman.

  • 4 or more years of military training/experience as an electrician will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • 3 or more years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Have the ability to learn new systems quickly

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.

  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks

  • Able to work within an empowered team environment

  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.

  • Able to work with independently with minimal supervision with in an empowered team environment.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
