Job Summary

Blue Shield of California is looking for a Senior Business System Analyst to join our Process Transformation Finance team to support Enterprise Process Transformation, the new initiative to redesign Blue Shield's key processes to resolve significant customer irritants and drive costs out of the system. As Senior Business System Analyst, you will provide end to end analysis through partnering with Finance teams and Transformation teams to support the delivery of multiple enterprise-wide solutions to spread, scale, and sustain better health outcomes at all level to achieve change and reinforce BSC's continuous improvement model. This role will be based in Oakland reports to the Director, Process Transformation Finance and is offered excellent exposure to company's business processes, process improvement methodologies including lean/agile, and ability to work with various pilot leads and other members of finance teams, as well as stakeholders across the organization to deliver solutions that favorably impact. The Senior Business System Analyst will be required to intake and synthesize significant amounts of information and data to produce business relevant reports and present work succinctly and articulately in both written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain financial models by acquiring data from various data sources and build scripts and reports to analyze business scenarios that inform and assist decision making for Process Transformation.

  • Formulate and define financial reporting scope and objectives through research combined with a thorough understanding and usage of business process modeling and financial rational methodologies.

  • Create financial measures to build analytics towards solutions or improved processes that will deliver administrative efficiency and result in cost savings; communicate status reports that reveal successes, risks, and health of improvement efforts in formats such as abstract, graphs or summaries to various levels of management.

  • Conduct routine data analysis, needs assessments, and cost/benefit analysis to evaluate savings initiatives and build analysis that provides financial direction to identify areas to scale for optimal results.

  • Design cross-functional analysis using financial dataand knowledge to link transformation activities, functions, and information in ways to achieve breakthrough improvements in cost, quality, and timeliness.

  • Collaborate with Process Transformation Value Stream Drivers and Transformation PMO to understand business needs and prepare situational and scenario analysis and/or other analytics required to guide business decision making and growth.

  • May provide financial support for Medical Care Solution, Provider Operations, and Provider Partnership value streams in Process Transformation.

  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own department, with the ability to educate others on complex disciplines.

  • Works to influence parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.








Knowledge and Experience


  • Strong ability to identify, gather and analyze data to examine patterns & trends, provide insights to enhance business making decision capability in business planning, process improvement, solution assessment, forecasting.

  • Excellent in financial analysis, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation and inter-personal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in preparing and making presentations to various levels of management.

  • Advanced analytics and data manipulation skills in MS Excel.

  • Expert level in creating MS PowerPoint slides for presentation.

  • Time management with respect to working on multiple tasks at once.

  • Health care or insurance experience preferred.

  • Typically, requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management.

  • Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of prior relevant.
