Job Summary

The Sales Strategy & Performance Lead is responsible for strategic design, development, and delivery of key initiatives and capabilities required to enhance Commercial Division's ability to grow and retain business through the enhancement of employer, member, and broker experience, and evolution of Blue Shield of California's services. This position will provide enterprise-wide thought leadership to realize the broader goals of Blue Shield, and deploy the capabilities needed to realize the broader market strategy and competitive roadmap. This position will be externally facing, interact frequently with senior leadership, sales executives, and account executives from multiple sales and account management organizations, and interact with leadership from across all functional areas within Blue Shield of California.

Responsibilities


  • Ability to operate at a strategic business level to ensure projects/programs are in line with Blue Shield of California strategic goals.

  • Ability to consult with all levels, including senior management, make recommendations, and influence decision-making.

  • Leverage cross-functional internal and external relationships to drive initiatives forward.

  • Ability to effectively maneuver through organizational dynamics and tailor an approach to ensure optimal outcome.

  • Plans, implements, and leads multiple large and extremely complex projects/programs spanning across business areas.

  • Proven ability to determine key business issues, develop effective action plans, and implement to successful conclusion.

  • Provides measurable input into new products, processes, standards and/or operational plans that will have some impact on the achievement of overall function results.

  • Responsible for proactively improving upon existing processes and systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.

  • Can understand value propositions from multiple points of view within a dynamic and changing healthcare landscape.

  • Accountable for the overall success of strategic initiatives, sales and account management performance, and Commercial Division's success.

  • Acumen to prioritize and manage complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously with appropriate urgency.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills suited for various audiences, both internal and external.

  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn new tools, software, and applications to develop new processes that improve performance and efficiency.

  • Other duties as assigned.








Knowledge and Experience


  • Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience. Master's degree preferred.

  • Relevant experience in Healthcare Administration, Sales, Account Management, Business Process, Program Ownership, and Business Development required with a demonstrated track record of success in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Experienced in explaining complex concepts, ideas, and solutions for processes, products, and capabilities to a wide range of audiences.

  • Experienced in positioning content and materials in the pursuit or retention of business.

  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with hands-on, 'roll up your sleeves' can-do attitude. A jack of all trades that thrives within a fast paced, unknown, and changing environment.

  • A growth mindset that can find clarity through difficulty and set a path for others to follow.

  • Data-driven user centric approach to product development and management, with demonstrated ability to anticipate various stakeholders' needs.

  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and presentation skills, with experience presenting in sales, C-Suite, and large group settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others using data and market practices across large cross-functional initiatives, business segments, and project teams.

  • Entrepreneurially spirited and visionary, unafraid of being a trailblazer.

  • The ability to compartmentalize problems and ideas into achievable and strategic solutions.
