JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Quality Inspector (2nd Shift)

Position: Fulltime / Non-Exempt

Location: Walnut, CA

Manager: No

Reports to: Quality Lead

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Quality Inspector (2nd Shift) at Fairway Injection Molds Inc. - A Westfall Technik Company is a position responsible for all stages of inspection to ensure quality requirements are being met by conducting in-process inspections (Visual and Dimensional), inputting data in the quality system base, and communication issues with appropriate personnel. The primary focus will be to handle complete inspection of electrodes and steel utilizing CMM and Smart Scope. The incumbent will work closely with Shop personnel and Engineering.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Perform visual and dimensional quality inspections on all products.

  • Ensure efficient workflow of product inspections.

  • Meet scheduled hours and dates of all tasks, with the goal of completing tasks ahead of schedule.

  • Must be a quick thinker and be able to multi-task.

  • Utilize machinery & prioritize equipment usage to obtain the quickest lead times.

  • Calypso software operation.

  • CMM Operation and programming with Calypso

  • OGP Operation.

  • Solidworks CAD software operation.

  • Electrode and steel inspection on the CMM and Smart Scope. For department and shop needs on second shift.

  • Ability to integrate lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Assure that the quality of work is to the satisfaction of the internal customer (EDM Cell, Tool makers) & Westfall Walnut guidelines.

  • Update the schedule as tasks are completed or their status changed.

  • Mark as complete on department schedule.

  • Mark as ready for the next operation in the next department if applicable.

  • Responsible for general machine maintenance as directed by the department lead person.

  • Send daily turnover to cell teammates, Cell leader, & DOO-MM, showing what you finished and any other pertinent information.

  • Maximize efficiency by working to minimize setup and run times in all machines.

  • Maintain an attitude of Continuous Improvement and make suggestions for improvements.

  • Meet all internal customer requirements.

  • Maintain working area neat, clean, organized, and sanitized at all times.

  • Ensure that all customer quality requirements are met.

  • Analyze and solve quality issues that arise.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Technical degree preferred

  • Minimum 0-6 months of exposure or experience in quality inspection

  • Great mechanical aptitude

  • Machine experience or ability to learn on-the-job

  • High organizational skills

  • Demonstrate ability to accomplish all department tasks

  • Able to communicate effectively

  • Ability to operate all machines in the department

  • Familiarity with a plastics manufacturing environment

  • Ability to a high volume of products in a short period of time.

  • Able to understand basic English

  • Able to work in a team environment

  • Great accuracy and attention to detail
