Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Legal Assistantto join our Raleigh, NC office. This Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to attorneys in the Transactional and IP practice groups, and will also handle some general administrative onsite office operations functions for the location.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Manage attorney and paralegal dockets; open new clients and matters utilizing NBI and maintain electronic files
Receive, review, and save any incoming documents
Draft reporting and reminder emails/letters to clients and upload documents to firm's extranet for client's use
Prepare transactional books and shell documents; maintain vault files
Proofread and review prebills prior to attorney review and make appropriate edits
Communicate with clients regarding billing issues and status of matters
Coordinate travel, meetings, conference call arrangements for attorneys
Prepare and submit attorney expense reports
Assemble new client proposals/pitches
Transcribe, type, proofread and finalize legal documents, correspondence, memos, charts, billings and reports from dictation, handwritten or existing documents, as directed by assigned legal staff
Assist in due diligence and research projects as needed
Help with general office administrative needs including conference room setup, office services, reception, events, etc.
Greet, register, and provide exceptional service to clients, visitors and guests to the office
3+ years of experience in IP and/or corporate/transactional law
HS/HSED required; with a technical certificate/diploma or associates degree preferred
Knowledge of processes and procedures including but not limited to initial filing to patent issuance
Well-versed in Word Processing Programs
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to excel in a team-oriented, detail-oriented, collaborative, and fast-paced environment
Highly professional, personable & provides excellent customer service
Valid authorization to work in the US
