This position will provide comprehensive strategic commodity buying support to Proterra’s Sourcing Commodity Manager and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for supporting the supplier strategy and sourcing efforts on current supply base, existing and new product and design changes.
About the Role – You will:
Manage the item master data files while driving part availability (to source) from item master to PO creation.
Review new releases and engineering changes as well as attend design review and production meetings to provide all departments with material status in support of shop floor schedules.
Work with cross-functional teams on the following: inventory and logistics planning of rollouts, inventory forecasting, yearly cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement of quality systems.
Develop reports that measure performance to drive change and provide management control information by studying market data and trends.
Run the Buy America pre- and post-audit reports for our customers and solicit suppliers for their Buy America certificates and DBE certifications.
Work with Suppliers to develop relationships, get quotations, negotiate spend and ID contract opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by management.

This position will be part of the Sourcing team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
You will report to the Sourcing Commodity Manager and collaborate with other Sourcing team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC.

Your Experience Includes:
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing or high-tech industry experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain or equivalent relevant experience
Expertise with report writing and system configuration management
Knowledge of purchasing and principles of research, analysis and negotiation
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau)
Strong knowledge of ERP systems (ORACLE) preferred
