Senior Agile Coach:

The Senior Agile Coach is both an educator and a coach who is a strong leader who thrives in a space where they are advocating, challenging and influencing both teams and leaders in seeing the benefits for adoption of Lean-Agile practices. The Agile Coach focuses on driving transformation for the program/teams which they are assigned and fully engaged while maintaining a focus on the bigger picture of Business Agility across the enterprise. They are experts in helping teams adopt a Lean Agile mindset, mature the use of agile principles and practices, and explaining how the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is used and implemented at AT&T. The Senior Agile Coach possesses great interpersonal skills, teaching abilities, and a capacity to inspire while instilling a sense of a call to action. Key characteristics; a strong change agent and can influence mindset and behaviors including those of senior leaders, a love of supporting people to adjust and embrace change, passionate about Agile principles, apply innovative and creative thinking in order to solve problems, a love of learning new skills and capabilities, is firmly rooted in applying teaching from the back of the room practices, are courageous and comfortable challenging, advising and coaching at multiple levels.

The Agile Coach serves in a coaching/mentoring/Subject Matter Expert (SME) role and may serve as an advisor for Scrum Masters and Scrum Teams and will help in the execution of an Agile Release Train. They are encouraged to use “I do it/We do it together/You do it” techniques to ensure comprehension of work. They support the AT&T Center of Excellence mission of driving business agility to deliver value in the shortest sustainable lead time. This may include creating customized coaching plans catered to the needs of a coaching engagement, assisting teams with planning and execution of ceremonies, knowledge and understanding of the AT&T standard Agile SDLC tool; effective Epic, Feature, and User Story writing; partnering with the Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers (RTEs) and Solution Train Engineers (STEs) to ensure cross-team coordination and servant leadership; Reaching out to the larger company network for impediment removal; Guidance on implementing and usage of standard metrics that give the team insight into how they are performing and assistance in reporting these metrics to management; Encouraging adoption of a truly Agile mindset, including transparency, ownership, accountability, empowerment and servant leadership; Performing Agility assessments and providing feedback on future areas of focus for team improvement; Pushing comfort levels of team members to achieve resultstraining formal SAFe certification courses, along with delivery of Agile training; Driving SAFe principles, Lean-Agile mindset, values, behaviors and methodologies throughout the organization, creating content for training needs in the adoption of Lean-Agile principles across the enterprise.


Qualified candidates are required to have the following:

  • Senior level technical professional, typically requires 3-5 years’ experience
  • Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Certification in good standing with Scaled Agile Inc. required
  • Preferred Certifications: Scaled Agile Framework certifications (SSM, SASM, RTE, POPM), Coaching Certifications (ICP-ACC), Agile certifications from Scrum Alliance or other recognized entities (CSM, PMI-ACP)
  • JIRA experience preferred
  • Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience
