Job Description:

As the Associate Manager – Technical Insights you will play a key role within the RD&E team to deliver on SCJ Professional 2025 strategic pillar of “Focus on the End User – Relentlessly”.

You will work very closely within NPD project teams and with Sales and Marketing to develop a leading edge understanding of our customers and end users to unlock new insights that will form the basis of our future innovation roadmap and product claims. This role will lead support initiatives to strengthen SCJ Professional’s presence in the market.  

You will be responsible for managing and liaising with internal cross-functional stakeholders and external agencies to define and deliver the research workplan and insights in support of innovation strategy and global NPD launches.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead the Technical Insights workstreams within NPD project teams and Technology scouting projects.


  • Lead Product Claims workstream within global NPD project teams.


  • With Director, support SCJP global market segment strategy teams to help define and deliver research plans to develop demand spaces and end user insight.


  • Build strong networks and leverage internal SCJ cross-BU capabilities (CPX, CIBA) as well as external research and design agencies. 


  • Work with Legal, GSARA and other HQ teams to execute and support the claims development process within projects.


  • Utilizes best practice qualitative and quantitative methodologies for building deep understanding of the end user and key drivers of choice to inform and optimize NPD value propositions and market segment innovation strategy.


  • Responsible for aggregating, filtering and synthesizing relevant learning from multiple sources (custom research, trends, social media, sales team insight etc.) and translating information into a composit view of our end user insight to uncover new opportunities


  • Through RD&E team, contribute to the development of capabilities and quality standards in all areas of Technical Insight and Claims Development incorporating continuous improvements and delivering high quality data.


Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science/Psychology, Market Research, Consumer Research or Insight related fields AND six years of experience in Consumer/Technical Insights or related field with direct business facing experience.


  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • Expertise in a variety of traditional and modern qualitative and quantitative research techniques, specifically for innovation, claims and communication


  • Experience working in the B2B industry in a highly matrixed environment


  • Experience working with interdependent cross-functional teams in a highly dynamic and challenging environment


  • Experience working in an agile environment with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent work streams


  • Demonstrate strong Intellectual Curiosity (ex: exploring trends and adjacent category activity to inform brand and product stories)   


  • Strong cross-functional leadership and coordination skills


  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to navigate dynamic project scopes


  • Ability to synthesize data to build and tell a compelling customer/end user story with credibility


  • Ability to handle influence multiple levels and teams during one project


  • Strong Integration & Facilitation skills-integrate information from many internal work partners to develop claims plans and to facilitation the activation of the claim’s plans.
