This position is currently remote due to COVID but candidate will be expected to return to the office once it is safe to do so.

Job Description

The Business Development Associate is a professional-level position that provides critical support to the Business Development department in a team structure. The successful candidate must work cohesively with a proposed service team regarding a prospect/client to produce a comprehensive response to a Request for Proposal (RFP), as well as finals presentations. This position requires professional communication with employees from all levels of the company and quality completion of a variety of tasks in a timely manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:


  • Obtain a detailed and comprehensive understanding of an RFP and serve as “Project Manager” in coordinating multiple people to get all aspects of the RFP assigned and completed.

  • Write, edit, and proofread answers to RFP questions to ensure answers are accurate, thorough, and customized.

  • Perform peer reviews of RFP responses.

  • Track progress on outstanding RFPs and provide the Director with status updates. 

  • Facilitate consulting team scheduling for finals presentations and produce highly-detailed meeting notices.

  • Coordinate and finalize finals presentations.

  • Work closely with team members and prioritize work assignments and projects to meet deadlines.

  • Perform a variety of highly complex and confidential functions in support of Business Development department operations. These involve the use of independent judgment and personal initiative.

  • Serve as backup to other Business Development Staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Core Qualifications


  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • An interest in the investment consulting field with an understanding of or ability to quickly learn financial vocabulary and financial market fundamentals

  • Desire to understand the rationale behind every job task with the ability to quickly learn new tasks

  • Ability to perform a variety of highly complex and confidential functions using independent judgment, critical thinking, problem solving skills, and personal initiative

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build rapport with internal and external customers

  • Strong project management skills with initiative to improve processes or create efficiencies

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize under tight deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs

  • Possess team player attitude and ability to take direction as necessary

Additional Qualifications


  • Ability and willingness to work up to 50-60 hours/week, including some evenings and weekends, as necessary

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)

Required Education and Work Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, writing/literature, or marketing (or background in the fields).

  • Two (2) or more years of experience with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience supporting large deadline-driven projects.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Prior marketing experience where responding to RFPs was the primary method of sales.

  • Knowledge of internal business applications (CRM, SharePoint, PARis).

  • Knowledge of the firm, its clientele, and its capabilities.

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry.
