Water Treatment Technician at PIONEER METAL FINISHING, LLC

Job Description:

Job Summary

Position is responsible for ensuring water discharged to the city is acceptable per our operating permit. Position is also responsible for ensuring monthly compliance testing and reports are complete and in compliance with operating permit. Position is responsible for daily chemical adds, chemical Makeups, maintenance, testing, calibration of instrumentation and equipment, and tank maintenance duties.


Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

Record PH levels, pump setting, and water flows of waste treatment system
Fill chemical tanks as needed for continued wastewater treatment
Daily chemical sampling and analysis of process tanks
Light Environmental Management
Use of Statistical data control required for monitoring and improving chemical processes
Empty filter press as required
Executes the dumping and replenishing of chemical and rinse tanks
Assist in any spill clean-up operations
Prepare Monthly Compliance reporting
Chemical inventory and organization of process chemical storage areas
Maintain an organized and clean operating area including cleaning empty drums if needed and lab area
Work closely with production personnel to maintain tank dump schedules
Any other job duties assigned including helping other departments as time allows
General cleaning/maintenance of waste treatment equipment.




Desired Education/Qualifications

High-School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
Ability to read, comprehend and write English on documents such as work or safety instructions, troubleshooting guides, or chemical containers
Ability to speak English sufficiently to allow for adequate communications in emergencies and to allow for effective cooperation with teammates



Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards

· Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted

· Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, moving machinery, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection)

· Potential splash exposure near process lines

· Must be able to maneuver a full drum or barrel of chemical that varies in weight (est.500-700lbs)

· Responsibilities are repetitive in nature

· Various chemicals used in process
