POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Advocacy Manager is responsible for providing leadership in the area of online engagement of advocates in order to advance Be The Match's public policy priorities at the federal, state, and community level. Additional responsibilities include management of our online presence including the bethematch.org/advocacy website, action platform and assisting with our social media accounts as well as tracking and analyzing program metrics and recommending modifications based upon data. This position can be located in Minneapolis, MN or home-based anywhere in the U.S.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Regularly evaluates advocacy program metrics, including but not limited to:

    • Tracking performance of communications and analyzing network trends through web-based action and reporting systems.
    • Produces analytics for our advocacy email program, database, and website.
    • Makes recommendations for program adjustments based on the data.

  • Ensures effective online engagement and retention of advocates in public policy campaigns. Develops key messaging, crafts and posts content for Be The Match Advocacy site, creates and distributes digital assets for social media, sets-up and launches advocate communications, and reports campaign results. Maintains and monitors the advocacy database.
  • Manages training and support for grassroots field team on the online advocacy platforms hosted by Phone2Action, Fiscal Note, MailChimp, ON24 and soon to be Salesforce.
  • Identifies and shares digital advocacy best practices and establish any documentation for unmet training needs.
  • Work in partnership with Public Relations Manager and other marketing teams to develop campaign narratives, story ideas, seek contributors, and assists in developing website content. Communicates planned content to stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with partners both internal and external to promote advocacy grassroots program & campaigns.
  • Provides turnkey content for partners to promote, execute, and track results related to public policy priorities. External partners include partner organizations with a shared advocacy issue agenda.
  • Develops and executes virtual engagement strategy surrounding local, state, and federal lobby day and awareness events intended to drive forward the Be The Match's public policy priorities.
  • Coordinates and distributes volunteer communications with field team partners.
  • Compiles and provides Quarterly reporting of key grassroots metrics to help inform strategic program adjustments.
  • Identifies opportunities for the recruitment of grassroots network members and key contact volunteers through social media and online advertising platforms.
  • Fosters integration opportunities with Be The Match staff partners to further grow our network and provide meaningful volunteer engagement opportunities through advocacy.
  • Writes and launches action alerts to mobilize volunteers to send communications to lawmakers, regulators, and industry leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:


  • Working knowledge of grassroots advocacy principles.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process at the federal, state and local level.

Ability to:


  • Simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
  • Develop grassroots recruitment and activation campaigns.
  • Recruit, direct, coach, monitor, and supervise volunteers.
  • Work with minimal supervision, self-starter.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated aptitude to utilize trend analysis, research and other sources to turn data and information into actionable information.
  • Travel overnight approx. 10% of the time.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Communications, Marketing or related area or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with community organizing and mobilization, volunteer management, public policy, public health, government relations, political and/or issue campaigns.
  • Experience with developing and implementing training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)


  • Experience with supporting integrated campaign strategies- media advocacy, grassroots mobilization, coalition-building and lobbying- to advance public policy goals.
  • Basic experience with website content management.
  • Database management experience.
  • Volunteer management experience.
