Position Description:
The Director of Engineering and Quality will oversee identified key initiatives in these areas, including their planning, directing staff in carrying out and managing these initiatives. The successful candidate will drive these initiatives to success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

AMETEK Spectro Scientific and Grabner Instruments are looking for a Director of Engineering and Quality who has a versatile, broad-based experience set in successfully guiding development programs. This includes understanding and being a key technical voice in the initial (internal or external) customer response, most importantly in clearly establishing technical and programmatic requirements and milestones. Further, the Director will manage the program, once established, ensuring that established requirements and milestones are met, and that the customer has a clear appraisal of these items throughout the development program.

The Director will manage a core staff of engineers who perform on such development projects, including key quality initiatives. This includes ensuring that the company remains in compliance with needed, evolving quality certifications and internal policies. Finally, the Director will work with the Senior Director of R&D and others to ensure that resources are appropriately allocated for such programs that they manage, in addition to sustaining efforts.

Essential Responsibilities Include:
• Work programs upfront to ensure a well-defined response to customer requirements.
• Lead key program efforts and ensure technical milestones and deliverables are met throughout the effort; communicate to the customer this progress.
• Manage a core staff of engineers who carry out development efforts in new initiatives, including in manufacturing/quality engineering.
• Responsibility for the Company’s Quality Management System and managing staff to deliver on quality programs including the certification/re-certification process.
• Coordinate with other technical managers and the Product Management Department to ensure that the product development roadmap is clearly defined and that programs adhere to the roadmap.

Position Requirements:
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical field
• 7+ years of related experience
• Excellent customer communication and relationship skills
• Proven program management experience and leadership of highly technical efforts in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to understand technical issues and direct staff to success on these items
• Experience in being a key contributor in responding to large project solicitations
