Job Description

Job Summary:

The position is an integral member of the Business Development (BD) team providing best in class pre and post-sales systems engineering support for Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) systems and ancillary equipment selected for prime contracting pursuits. The individual will assist customers in the selection and application of FLIR and other mission system products and provide technical support to the BD team in pursuit of corporate bookings objectives. The position functions as the systems engineer, technical project manager and primary point of contact for pre-sale technical support for all FLIR Surveillance products. The individual must be able to work with minimal supervision. The individual will be responsible for drafting complex technical Statements of Work (SOW) for airborne, land, and maritime system integration opportunities. The individual is required to have a strong project management background for technical management of the opportunity when captured by the BD team. The individual should have an understanding of air/land/sea surveillance systems hardware and software, communication systems, interface protocols, and certification concepts. Applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance and have a valid passport with the ability to travel up to 50% of the time. International travel will be required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • As a product line expert, work as a member of the Business Development team to provide technical support during pre-sales activity including producing technical documentation, project management, and delivery support.

  • Provide remote and onsite technical/product support to key customers, developers, and integrators during development and installation of mission equipment.

  • Evaluate customer mission requirements and have the ability to develop system architectures to support requirements (i.e. protocol translation, video and signal routing, data recording, interfacing with legacy devices etc...)

  • Develop comprehensive technical Statements of Work to be submitted to subcontractors for bid.

  • Provide technical Systems Engineering support to Program Management team upon capture and execution of new integration program opportunities

  • Provide support during platform integration solution definition and assist in quotation of custom-engineered solutions.

  • Work closely with Engineering during product qualification to assure functionality and performance of systems prior to delivery.

  • Work with Product Management, Engineering, and BD teams to identify product opportunities, new product configurations, features, and applications.

  • Assist Marketing team with market research, product planning, and development of product notes, based on direct customer contact.

  • Perform other job-related duties as required.



Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work-related experience in an Aviation technical support or engineering environment.

  • Strong Program/Project Management skills required.

  • Prior experience with infrared or similar Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) technologies required.

  • Prior experience with airborne , vehicle, or maritime surveillance equipment integration and testing required.

  • Ability to review and understand electrical/mechanical drawings is required.

  • Understanding of Federal Aviation Administration and US Gov airworthiness (USAF, Army, Navy) regulations required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational abilities required.

  • Strong computer proficiencies required; Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Visio, Project, Access/FileMaker Pro etc.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess a valid Permanent Resident status (Must be able to obtain Security Clearance at Secret Level).

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics preferred.

  • Computer/Systems networking experience is preferred.
