Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will work with various teams and frequently meet with others to review the manufacturing process, goals, and current status. They will be involved in project planning, product work flow, and the design and planning for the manufacturing process. They are involved in product planning, providing input and knowledge into original product design - with an eye to what is required to ultimately manufacture the product.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Provide manufacturing and engineering guidance and support; support new product development and orchestrate new product transition into manufacturing

  • Provide fabrication process expertise for mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical components and assemblies and work with design teams to provide input

  • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components

  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes

  • Perform Bill of Materials (BOM) analysis; identify Sole Source/Single Source concerns and manage part End of Life (EOL) issues

  • Perform Design for Excellence (DFx) analysis at all levels of design, identifying opportunities for assembly improvement and cost reduction

  • Create DFx reports and metrics

  • Analyze manufacturing processes and their impact on product manufacturing parameters

  • Work with Quality, Engineering and Purchasing to maintain product(s)

  • Participate in supplier analysis, identification, qualification, and implementation

  • Review, create, and support product/process documentation as appropriate

  • Anticipate potential design or support issues and work with the team to determine effective solutions

Job Qualifications:


  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering highly preferred, or equivalent work experience.

  • 5 + years of experience working in a manufacturing environment required

  • Applicable hands on manufacturing experience and interest electrical, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical products

  • Able to balance requirements, design, cost, quality, manufacturability, and schedule throughout the design process

  • Intermediate experience utilizing 3D design software, Solidworks preferred

  • Exceptional skills at generating engineering documentation (schematics, work instructions, receiving inspections, etc.)

  • Track record of successfully transitioning new products into manufacturing (NPI), contract manufacturing experience preferred

  • Experience presenting technical information

  • Understanding of quality processes

  • Excellent computer skills with high competency level in Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills

  • Proven project planning, scheduling and management skills

  • Organized and self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as a team

  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Creative and resourceful

  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
