Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

An Installation Continuous Improvement Engineer’s focus should be on making changes to installation tools & processes as well as manufactured equipment to increase installation efficiency and reduce rework.  In order to identify opportunities for improvement, significant time will be spent on project sites monitoring installation activities.   

 

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Work closely with Installation Quality Lead to suggest product improvements that will in turn improve installation quality and decrease time to install 

  • Develop business cases for new products and improvements, including cost and time savings analysis 

  • Work with installation training manager to develop documentation and roll out plan as required for change management 


  • Use Engineering principles such as CAD models and drawings to design Holistic Equipment that increases quality and ease of installation 

  • Work independently to have prototypes created by outside vendors and tested at installation sites 

  • Record and report the results of prototyped equipment installations   

  • Collaborate with either Sustaining Engineering or R&D to transition prototyped parts into standardized, released drawings 

  • Work in cooperation to increase the quality of installation project drawings provided by applications engineering as well as work with site installation crews to answer questions related to project drawing content. 


  • Assist in maintaining & developing commissioning checklists  


Qualifications

Education:  
Minimum High School Diploma 

Preferably BS in engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical) 

Minimum 3 years of experience in the Material Handling Industry or Construction Industry 

Knowledge and Experience:  


  • Must be able to conduct analysis, interpret data & facilitate group activities directed towards process and/or product change 

  • Must be able to manage and interact effectively with diverse groups 

  • Must have extensive experience in Microsoft Excel & data manipulation/analysis  


  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD and have a basic understanding of Maestro 

  • Must be able to present high-level ideas to management and installation supervisors 
     
    Direction of Others:  
    May provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and other employees.  
     
    Key Working Relationships:  
    Represents the organization as a prime internal contact and possibly a key external contact.
