Job Description:

The Position

This position will provide sales support and customer service to the Commercial Estimating Supervisor while learning how to work with current and new customers by interpreting specifications for dealer network/ROCs and generating competitive quotes.

Responsibilities


  • Learn how to be the direct customer contact and the preparation of complete quotation packages by entering data into the OHDirect pricing program.

  • Learn how to research pricing of non-standard items, answering basic questions about the requested project, and for making recommendations for alternatives, if necessary.

  • Learn how to enter data into Excel-based margin grids and determine acceptable, additional discounts in accordance with provided guidelines and/or recommendations from Sales Management.

  • Learn how to review and discuss second look opportunities.  Learn how to be able to understand competitive bidding, pricing, labor, mark-ups, etc. in order to allow the additional bid price reduction to be shared equally by corporation and customer.

  • Learn how to provide excellent follow-up capabilities, questioning our customers as to the results of our quote and their bid.

  • Learn how to recognize new potential business opportunities for our customers in assigned regions and generate product leads to the Commercial Estimating Supervisor.

  • Learn how to be able to quote from plans and specs, understanding how they relate to our product and help customers understand the same by providing this as a service to our distributors.

  • Learn how to provide accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports.

  • Learn how to work effectively with Marketing, Engineering, and all other Associates.

  • Learn how to assist with field issues as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned by Commercial Estimating Supervisor.


 

Skills/Experience Requirements:

• 2-3 years experience in a commercial estimating environment in the construction, building products, garage door, or loading dock industry.

• Experience in competitive bidding, including how contractors price material, labor, and overhead.  Ability to read blueprints.

• Demonstrated leadership qualities, with the ability to think through the short and long-term consequences of decisions.

• Must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and ASD associates.

• Success in this position will require strong telephone and listening skills, with the ability to consult and sell company solutions over the phone.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills essential.  Must be analytical, data-driven, good with numbers, strong math skills, and a mechanical/technical aptitude.

• Must be principled; operate with honesty, integrity, and honor the confidential information that is shared by Wayne Dalton customers.

• Goal-oriented; possess a strong work ethic, with good time management skills.  Will need to be able to prioritize work and enjoy completing tasks in a fast-paced environment. 

• Must be bright and intelligent; deal with concepts and complexity comfortably; described as intellectually sharp, capable, and agile

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as margin, mark up, discounts, percentages, area, volume, etc.

• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Exposure to ERP mainframe order processing.

• Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Office, Word, and PowerPoint software.  Excellent Excel skills required.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in the construction, building products, and door or loading dock industry.
