RN - Critical Care Communicator - 90% FTE, Day - University Hospital at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to:


  • Work alongside experts in intensive care and palliative medicine as a champion for person-focused care.

  • Develop expert skills in communication, care coordination, and champion best practices in facilitating shared decision making and integration of palliative care in the ICU setting.

Education:
Preferred – Bachelor of Science – Nursing (BSN)

Work Experience:
Preferred – Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience in ICU nursing

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum – RN License in the state of Wisconsin

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record

  • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgements

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to educate staff, patients, and families

  • Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with patients, families, and healthcare team

  • Ability to facilitate multidisciplinary resolution of issues

  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain patient and family privacy and confidentiality

  • Demonstrates competence with a continuum of professional development from beginner to expert practitioner

  • Knowledge of computer-assisted instruction, basic skills in the use of word processing, databases, and PC based presentation software

Physical Requirements:
Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, 90% FTE position scheduled to work 36 hours per week. The scheduled shifts are 4, 9-hour day shifts per week with a start time between 0700-0830. Every other weekend rotation is required. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
