WHAT TO EXPECT

Located in our Denver office, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the efficient execution of individual projects from the risk-based internal audit plan. The Internal Auditor role requires the application of skills to effectively plan, execute, and report on internal audit projects in team-based environment. These skills include the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and tasks, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others. This position will work closely with Global Finance, Information Technology, and other business functions as an important part of Gates' overall risk management program. As part of the Global Internal Audit function, this exciting role is also expected to participate in both domestic and international projects across Gates' global locations and operations.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):


  • Assist completing the following phases of internal audit projects: planning and administration, setting the scope and objective, identifying risks and controls, developing work programs, performing test procedures, gathering evidence, documenting work papers, drafting findings and recommendations, and preparing written and verbal project reports

  • Advise process owners, project partners, and business leaders on risk management and internal control topics

  • Participate in department improvement and quality assurance initiatives

  • Assist in Sarbanes-Oxley projects as needed

  • Establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with internal audit project partners, managers, peers, and other internal audit stakeholders

  • Promote awareness of the importance of internal controls and their value in managing risk, and do it across Gates business units, locations, and functions









ABOUT YOU


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or another business-related field is required

  • 2+ years of experience in a public accounting or internal audit is required

  • CPA/CIA/CISA certification is preferred

  • Working knowledge of accounting and finance principles, U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements, and internal control procedures

  • Maintains the highest degree of integrity and ethical standards, upholds strict standards of confidentiality, and serves as a role model for Gates' values

  • Organized self-starter who prioritizes competing demands, balances multiple tasks, meets deadlines, and takes accountability for assignments and responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to complete assignments in a self-directed, fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and composure under pressure

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required

  • Experience with audit management software, flowcharting software, data analysis applications, and other auditing software is preferred

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to both domestic and international locations
