Prudential’s Chief Data Office is seeking an Enterprise Data Platform Product Owner to drive the product vision and strategy, own the customer relationship and successfully lead a team toward the vision. The Product Owner will report into the Chief Product Owner, Data & Modeling Platforms and Head of Data Engineering and Ecosystems.  

As a Product Owner, this person will represent the voice of the customer. They are empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements, as well as manage and prioritize the Product Backlog to maximize business value. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and communicating the long-term strategic vision, roadmap, and evolution of Prudential’s enterprise data platforms and capabilities. The Product Owner will develop a comprehensive understanding of data engineering, analytics, and science requirements, including how data is built, collected, and consumed across Prudential's businesses and functions. The successful candidate will apply knowledge of business models and use cases to identify future data engineering, data analytics and data science needs from both a platform capability and   data requirements perspectives.  

The Product Owner must have deep technical domain subject matter experience, bring a servant leader and strategic approach, employ strong communication skills and organizational awareness and an experimental mindset to drive innovation. 

Responsibilities:

• Set ambitious and clear product vision and communicate ‘the story’ effectively to key stakeholders and the rest of the team 




• Own the end-to-end product strategy from inception and determine business value once solution enters production. 




• Ensure alignment of product features and stories, i.e., review, give feedback, and prioritize user stories in line with own vision. 




• Continuously improve backlog with the team, ensuring all items are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized. 




• Ensure customer-driven design considering user pain points & usability test results, using market & industry knowledge as well as continual research, to deliver a well-positioned product. 




• Drive sprint and release plans together with the Scrum Master and organizational technology teams. 




• Work with Tech lead to build a modular & reusable solution. 




• Lead decision making and overall direction for data platform workstream, consulting with partner experts and product owners to define a platform vision that enables the long-term performance of the platform and oversee the incremental development and roll out of the new product and capabilities to platform users. 




• Lead the collation, refinement and prioritization of platform demand using agile methodologies and techniques across user groups and platform delivery teams. 




• Develop and apply assessment criteria for the development of new platform capabilities and how these are exposed to internal and external users. 




• Influence stakeholders to ensure that platform maintenance, automation and improvement features are prioritized appropriately alongside consumer features. 




• Assist in the definition and collection of platform metrics that demonstrate the velocity of platform delivery and the success of the platform. Use these metrics to support the development or prioritization of new platform features. 

Skills / Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field 




• 10+ years of leadership experience in data strategy, data engineering, data management, data analytics 




• Strong executive presence and written/verbal communications skills; formal presentation skills with ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs to tell a compelling story 




• Ability to conduct continuous exploration of customer needs using a variety of methods 




• Ability to work effectively across the organization and influence a diverse group of stakeholders including small to large teams of technical experts 




• Exhibits strategic thinking capabilities, problem solving skills, strong execution, and accountability for outcomes 




• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with others and drive results 




• Ability to translate business need into technical terms 




• Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights 




• Balancing tactical outcomes and strategic direction

• Deep knowledge of product roadmap definition; process designing, mapping, and reengineering; and scoping present and future products by reviewing product specifications and requirements 




• Required experience with market research on product development, including appraising new product ideas and product or packaging changes 




• Required experience with ROI analysis, financial planning, and strategy, and conducting product training and presentations to users and management
