Prudential’s Chief Data Office is seeking an AI/ML Product Owner & ML Engineering Leader to drive the product vision and strategy, own the customer relationship and successfully lead a team toward the vision. The AI/ML Product Owner & ML Engineering Leader will report into the Chief Product Owner, Data & Modeling Platforms and Head of Data Engineering and Ecosystems.  

As a Product Owner, this person will represent the voice of the customer. They are empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements, as well as manage and prioritize the Product Backlog to maximize business value. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and growing the ML engineering practice for Prudential and interfacing with engineering, data science, product, operations and risk and control teams as necessary to support the entire AI/ML software development lifecycle.  

The successful candidate must have deep technical domain subject matter experience, bring a servant leader and strategic approach, employ strong communication skills and organizational awareness and an experimental mindset to drive innovation. 

Responsibilities:

• Set ambitious and clear product vision and communicate ‘the story’ effectively to key stakeholders and the rest of the team. 




• Own the end-to-end product strategy from inception and determine business value once solution enters production.




• Ensure alignment of product features and stories, i.e., review, give feedback, and prioritize user stories in line with own vision. 




• Continuously improve backlog with the team, ensuring all items are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized. 




• Ensure customer-driven design considering user pain points and usability test results, using market & industry knowledge as well as continual research, to deliver a well-positioned product. 




• Drive sprint and release plans together with the Scrum Master and organizational technology teams. 




• Work with Tech lead to build a modular and reusable solution. 




• Drive value by bringing ML-enabled products and solutions to teams across the enterprise. 




• Work in close partnership with key stakeholders and customers to ensure product roadmap is collectively aligned to Prudential’s strategic vision. 




• Partner with the firm's data scientists in artificial intelligence/machine learning to enable a platform primed to support enterprise grade AI/ML solutions. 




• Partner with the data platform technology and data science teams to ensure the product vision, roadmap and prioritization is clearly understood and efficiently executed. 

Skills / Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field 




• 7-10 years of combined AI/Machine Learning and Technical Product Management experience 




• Strong executive presence and written/verbal communications skills; formal presentation skills with ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs to tell a compelling story 




• Ability to conduct continuous exploration of customer needs using a variety of methods 




• Ability to work effectively across the organization and influence a diverse group of stakeholders including small to large teams of technical experts 




• Exhibits strategic thinking capabilities, problem solving skills, strong execution, and accountability for outcomes 




• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with others and drive results 




• Ability to translate business need into technical terms 




• Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights 




• Balancing tactical outcomes and strategic direction

• Deep knowledge of delivering cloud-based, enterprise-grade AI/ML platforms 




• Track record of successfully implementing and evaluating deep learning and machine learning models on real-world structured and unstructured data 




• Solid fundamentals with knowledge of machine learning / deep learning algorithms, classification, clustering, regression, reinforcement learning, CNN, RNN, probability theory, and algorithm design 




• Strong combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in data labeling, data mining, feature selection, dimensionality reduction, statistical techniques, regression analysis, and machine learning / deep learning algorithms
