Lyman-Richey Sand & Gravel Company, A CRH Company, has been supplying aggregate materials for construction and development projects for more than 130 years. What began with a single clamshell dredge and a horse and wagon has evolved into a large-scale production and trucking business with several plants in the Omaha metro area along Nebraska’s Platte River.

 

 

Summary:

Ensures all trucks are properly and accurately weighed both entering and leaving the facility.  This is a new seasonal position to help cover the scales during this unusually busy year. The position involves covering the scales at Gretna, Waterloo and Fremont (Nebraska) with the possibility of occasionally helping dispatch in the corporate office in Omaha, NE.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Greets incoming truck drivers at the scale house.

  • Ascertain the client name for each sales order.

  • Receives orders and answer questions of the customers in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Utilizes computerized dispatch system to evaluate sales orders and weigh trucks.

  • Process all credit card and cash transactions for COD customers.

  • Balance cash drawer and prepare deposit at the end of each day.

  • Maintains daily housekeeping duties for scale house and scale (including keeping scale clean and performing maintenance/drain the overhead bin air compressor.)

  • Tabulates daily sales and production data.

  • Communicates with central dispatch and plant superintendent via telephone or two-way radio.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

                                                 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as delivery tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

           

Computer Skills                                               

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word and should be able to use the internet and e-mail effectively.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Depending on site location, the noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.  Hearing protection will be necessary in loud environments.
