The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Plant Engineering and EHS Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most creative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Providing daily supervision and coordination of Plant Engineering & EHS resources in support of the needs of our business partners.

  • Plans and executes preventative Maintenance activities on the facility and its equipment.

  • Serves as primary contact, representing the Plant Engineering / Facilities Management organization in delivering all facility related services, such as Plant Engineering, Sourcing, Facilities Engineering, Vendor Services, Outside Suppliers, Security, Custodial, etc., proactively working with clients in an effort to anticipate their future and changing needs. Acts as the liaison to the most challenging and highest demand clients. Enhances and sustains excellent customer relations. Communicates facilities management and corporate policies to clients, applies them to the job and recommends, modifies and develops policies, due to the changing needs and requirements of 3M.

  • Identifying and supporting business efforts to drive improvement in equipment reliability.

  • Providing technical guidance to department crafts.

  • Impacting through cost reduction programs, equipment effectiveness, and safety of work environment.

  • Initiating and completing activities leading to new or improved safety methods or processes which have significant impact potential at a program or project level within the assigned area of responsibility.

  • Participating in safety projects by working with management to define project parameters:

    • Develop and present training packages

    • Investigate all incidents

    • Lead element audits or assessments (such as ergonomics, lockout/tagout, etc.)

    • Assist facility in Global Safety and Health Plan (GSHP) program development




  • Communicating project or program status and results to project owner.

  • Providing safety consulting services on task-oriented programs such as lockout/tagout or fall protection.

  • Collecting and analyzing safety and health data and reports trends and results to a senior level co-worker and/or management.

  • Participation in developing correction plans.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years Environmental, Health, & Safety and/or Manufacturing supervision experience within a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Management and/or EHS, Industrial Hygiene or other relevant discipline from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years of maintenance related experience

  • Experience working with mechanical systems, control systems and programmable logic

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the theories and practices of one or more disciplines such as health and safety assurance, air/land/water protection, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, fire protection

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Email) skills

  • Successful track record of providing technical content/presentations

  • Previous training experience to a wide variety of end users and group sizes

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, positive attitude, and committed to delivering results

  • Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments

  • Good work habits - timely, thorough, and dependable

  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts and systems

Travel:  May include up to 5% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance:  Is authorized
