Director, Tech Lead - Data Quality at Prudential Ins Co of America

Job Description:

Prudential’s Chief Data Office is seeking a Lifecycle Management (Data Quality 2) Tech Lead to own the technical decisions for the Lifecycle Management (Data Quality 2) team, valuing simplicity and willing to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve Agile design. The Lifecycle Management (Data Quality 2) Tech Lead will report into the Chief Product Owner, Data Management and Governance.  

 

As a Tech Lead, the person will work with the agile product teams to align technical execution to the overall strategy. The Tech Lead is an executor as well as the visionary force behind the technical solution and will be responsible for enabling a high quality, highly available and scalable technology transforming conversational capabilities for the enterprise.   This person will work collaboratively across Prudential and third-party vendors to deliver a technology-led, intelligent platform that supports our customer’s success.  

 

The successful candidate must have deep technical domain subject matter experience, execution and operations of data analytics platforms, bring a servant leader and strategic approach, employ strong communication skills and organizational awareness and a business acumen mindset to translate business needs to technical specifications. 

 

Responsibilities:  


  • Design the overall technological architecture of the product with the support of the team.   


  • Guide project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment, and help to interpret technology strategy into consumable units of work deployed to the teams.  


  • Responsible for executing technical design and infrastructure / environments strategy, including deployments, ensuring that these are kept in-line with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) mindset of ‘emerging architecture’.  


  • Mentor and coach the technical team providing feedback on deliverables and project timelines including support with code reviews, domain knowledge and ownership, SLA development and application reliability. Coach and educate team on industry trends and emerging technologies, elevating the business acumen of the team. 


  • Be hands on and engage in coding to help the team to develop a solution and solve all surfacing problems at hand. Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo. 


  • Identify and remove complex technical impediments. 


  • Work with Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack. Bring forward business acumen and knowledge to influence decisions. 


  • Serve as technical liaison with adjacent areas to integrate applications and implement software engineering best practices for higher code quality. 


 

Skills / Qualifications:  


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field 


  • Strong communication skills to align the organization on complex technical decisions (e.g., with architecture committee) 


  • Significant experience of Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies / technologies to drive efficient working practices and DevOps  


  • Understands relationship between Product Owner, Scrum Master, and rest of team, with a strong sense of design thinking 


  • Active coach and mentor whose goals are to grow and maximize the team’s potential 


  • Experience in Agile Development 


  • High energy and passionate individual who inspires teammates to reach their maximum potential 


  • Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units 


  • Data driven - uses methodologies, metrics, and analysis to plan, assess performance against business goals
