*Performs all duties within the scope of practice for the perioperative patient including patient consults, ICU and progressive care rounds; Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and Endoscopic Radial Artery Harvesting (ERAH), and first-assisting in surgery.
*Assists with surgical emergencies.
*Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.
*Plans and participates in educational programs for patients, families, medical students, and hospital staff as needed. Provides workshops, seminars, and presentations to other professionals.
Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
Graduate of a program for Physician Assistants that is accredited by the college of medicine and surgery and approved by the Nebraska Board of Examiners and Surgery is required. Current license as a Physician Assistant in the state of Nebraska is required. Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is preferred. A minimum of one year experience as a Physician Assistant preferred. Surgery experience in a cardiothoracic and vascular surgery setting is preferred.Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
