Position Description:
AMETEK Spectro Scientific and Grabner Instruments seeks an Electrical Engineer to perform a range of electronic design and troubleshooting tasks that support existing and new products development efforts. In coordination with the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer, the successful candidate will identify and prioritize electronics issues that need to be addressed. They will then address these issues, seeking guidance when necessary. Once complete, their work will be documented and archived via CAD file, completed firmware, or in the PLM software as an ECO.

The Electrical Engineer will work in conjunction with the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer to support electronics design for new products and existing electronics systems in the range of products manufactured and serviced at the facility. This includes utilizing electronics design CAD tools to fix issues in layouts and board designs, programming and modifying system firmware for relevant systems, and troubleshooting and fixing boards via use of laboratory tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Designs modifications or troubleshoots board designs and layouts in Altium and PADS, pinpointing issues observed or potential issues.
• Designs modifications or troubleshoots board firmware using Xilinx ISE, other FPGA or microcontroller firmware platforms.
• Uses EE tools such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, logic analyzers as well as soldering processes to troubleshoot issues and fix boards to demonstrate that an issue has been resolved.
• Iterate solutions in conjunction with test engineers or manufacturing personnel.
• Drafts rework procedures and assembly procedures as appropriate and places them in to the EDM system.
• Familiarizes users with rework and assembly procedures, board and firmware fixes.

Position Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field is required
• 1+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
• Excellent ability to identify electronics issues and find a path to a solution.
• Familiarity with PADS and Altium design and layout software tools
• Familiarity with Xilinx ISE and other FPGA or microcontroller development systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to draft procedure documents.
