POSITION SUMMARY:

The incumbent is an experienced analyst who is expected to independently perform manufacturing reagent quality control, incoming and in-process quality control, and coated kit and custom plate quality control analysis. The Quality Control Analyst II also performs and reports on data analysis and outcomes from Quality Control (QC) testing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Perform quality control functional testing (QC) of coated plates including all of the following: phosphoprotein/biomarker, cytokine and chemokine assays, and kit component retesting for expiration date extensions
* Testing in BSL-2 designated laboratories
* Perform daily data analysis and record-keeping, including evaluation of data against specifications for uniformity and component testing
* Facilitate the anchoring of standards
* Operation of QC equipment such as the Cy-Bi and epMotion automated pipettors
* Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Chemistry or related field is required
o Additional experience may be substituted with an Associate's degree
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in a biotech field as a Research Assistant or equivalent, is preferred
* Possess and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of principles of microplate analysis
* A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Demonstration of excellent laboratory technique in all areas relevant to performing microplate assays
* Aptitude for understanding of principles of assay development
* Strong scientific fundamentals and analytical background
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with personnel at all levels
o Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of laboratory data
* Proficient with MS Office
o Experience with standard data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism) and the quantitative background to advance this knowledge on the job is expected
* A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* Functional duties of the positions duties may require that a person in this role be able to work at heights up to six (6) feet on occasion
* Up to 100 % of the day may be spent sitting or standing at a desk/lab bench working with a computer or other items that will require fine motor manipulation
* This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the laboratory and campus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

* Standard wet lab environment
* Standard office environment
