The Lab Manager for the Civil and Environmental Engineering department will maintain all labs for safety, operation, and hygiene. The incumbent will prepare labs for teaching classes and work closely with faculty and TAs in the department. The Lab Manager is responsible for performing routine maintenance of lab instruments including but not limited to ICP-MS, weighing balances, BET analyzer, GC-MS, HPLC, IC, Millipore water, pH meters, TOC, UV-visible spectrometer, UPLC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, UPLC, UPLC-QToF, and others. They will also work on safety compliance with state and Temple University EHRS regulations and policies. Perfoms other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree in related field of engineering technologies, sciences or instrumentation and 4 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Demonstrated knowledge for the operation, maintenance, and basic repair of laboratory equipment, including ICP-MS, weighing balances, BET analyzer, GC-MS, HPLC, IC, Millipore water, pH meters, TOC, UV-visible spectrometer, UPLC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, UPLC, UPLC-QToF, and others

* Computer skills to run commonly used office software (Microsoft Word and Excel) and instrument specific software (i.e. ChemStation, WinLab, LabVIEW)

* Ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students for safety and training

* Strong, well developed written and verbal communication skills, and effective presentation abilities

* Demonstrated leadership skills

* Strong team player and individual contributor

* Ability to think at a strategic level; translate strategy into action and execute

* Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with diverse stakeholders
