SUMMARY: This job is Seasonal- on-CALL temporary

 

This role is responsible in working with a Senior Assessor as part of a two-man team patrolling an area of distribution facilities in need of restorations caused by accident or natural event.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 • Serve as a driver for a two-person team.

• Assist the Senior Assessor with taking notes, reading maps and other miscellaneous tasks not requiring utility experience.

• May be assigned to Area Field Manager to assist with Administrative duties.

 • Responsible to communicate hazardous situation information (downed wire, tree on line, service line low, etc.) to the general public or utility representative is required.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Generally routine, established precedents; practices and procedures exist.

 

RELATIONSHIP OUTSIDE WORK GROUP: Exchange of information, which occasionally requires tact and/or diplomacy.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

1. ATTENDANCE - Must be available for work the daily hours as required by utility’s work schedule and until completion of the restoration work and released by the utility.

 

 2. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Education: High school degree or GED required. Experience Must be minimum age of 25 as per car rental requirements. .

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A valid state driver’s license is required.

 

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING AND/OR REQUIRED ITEMS/TOOLS: The following items are required for this role prior to reporting to duty. Items marked + will be furnished by UCS: Reflective Vest (Class III) + Safety Glasses + Hard Hat + Hard Toe Boots

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spread sheets.

 

 REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Additional skills and/or abilities include the following: Ability to recognize hazards associated with working near electric distribution line right of ways. Ability to utilize binoculars, cell phones and two way radios.
