The Lead Accounts Receivable Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day processing of accounts receivable for externally sponsored awards managed by the Research Administration division within the Office of Research.The incumbent will perform reconciliations of the RAS lockbox and Grant Unidentified Payment Clearing Account (2186) as well as reconciliations and variance analysis of all grant A/R accounts (1160, 1161, 1162 and 2401) in conjunction with senior management. In addition,the Lead A/R Analyst will provide oversight and review of the maintenance of the attribute tables related to sponsored research.The incumbent will work with grant analyst colleagues to process all grant related payments and deposits.

Responsibilities include: performing reconciliations of funds drawn from federal websites to ensure proper requests, payments and posting; reviewing US Treasury retainage and serving as liaison in correcting errors; processing checks from the lockbox, deposits made at the Bursar's office, and draws from the payment management system; completing accounting (payment and journal) entries for the Temple Clinical Research Institute and training clinical staff on processes needed for proper accounting of clinical trials; analyzing variances between clinical trial revenue and payments; documenting and collecting on outstanding A/R balances; performing monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable and unapplied payment accounts, daily reconciliations of unidentified cash and lockbox accounts, and monthly reconciliations of federal draws; identiying uncollectible accounts for write-off approval by upper management; establishing, in Banner, all clinical trial and Continuing Medical Education FOAPALs and closing out the funds, as requested; developing queries in performing analysis on sponsored awards; generating financial reports using both Cognos and Banner; working with internal and external auditors to satisfy applicable audit requirements; and training University personnel to help assure effective application of University policies, procedures, practices and standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years' related finance/accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.



Required Skills and Abilities:

*Demonstrated ability to utilize online financial systems.

*Demonstrated expertise in managing awards from state and federal sponsors.

*Demonstrated computer skills, and advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced spreadsheet and database software skills.

*Demonstrated training skills.

*Demonstrated analytical skills, and ability to work with large financial data sets.

*Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.

*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to be task- and detail-oriented.

Preferred:

*CPA, CRA or other related credentials.

*Experience usingBanner and eRA systems.
