Job Summary

Our 10-week Summer Internship Program is an ideal way for both undergrad and graduate students to gain real-life work experience while learning what a career at Blue Shield of California can offer. Interns work on real-world projects and initiatives while being immersed in all aspects of our business. From interacting with senior leadership to visiting a neighborhood health clinic, interns will build a better understanding of the diversity and complexities of working in the dynamic world of health insurance.

Reporting to theSenior Manager of Revenue Management, the role of theRisk Adjustment Internis critical to the success of Blue Shield of California and theRevenue Managementdepartment in realizing its goals and objectives. This individual will play a key role as part of theRisk Adjustmentteam in delivering and collaborating on all aspects ofthe risk adjustment member programs. TheRisk Adjustment Internrole will also providesupport with meeting department and BSC corporate goals.

Program end date: 8/13/2021

Throughout the internship program, you will have the ability to learn about additional employment opportunities within the organization. This will include full time positions (that are open during the internshiptime period) as well as other Talent Pipeline Programs like the award-winning Shield Emerging Leader and Management Trainee Programs. Should you be considered for any of these opportunities, you will receive support from the program leaders as part of the transition into our organization.

Responsibilities


  • Assisting to successfullymanage time-sensitive projects and deliverables

  • Assisting in implementing member programs and resolving issues between internal and external partners

  • Assisting in creating and organizing documentation

  • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure that key project deliverables arecoordinatedand deadlines are met

  • Assisting in program improvement

  • Assisting in program reconciliations and reporting

Key Outcomes for this position:


  • The Risk Adjustment Intern will learnkey components to member program operations.

  • The Risk Adjustment Intern will helpinday-to-day operationsand program improvements.






Knowledge and Experience


  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative or project coordinator (or relevant) experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree required; emphasis on public health or health administration preferred.

  • Master's degree preferred; emphasis on public health or health administration.

  • Proficiency in computer and software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).

  • Demonstrated experience workingindependentlyin a fast-paced environmentwith high attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects/timelines to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, initiative, responsiveness, and a proactive approach to work.

  • Strong work ethic, upbeat personality with a can-do attitude.
